Narine gets a green signal from ICC, but remains in doubt for the opening game against DD

WEST INDIES SPINNER SUNIL NARINE has arguably been a major contributor in Kolkata Knight Riders’ success. Narine has been a mysterious bowler in the IPL, owing to which he has bamboozled almost everybody in the tournament.

However, the Trinidadian’s action has always been under the scanner and the ICC eventually banned him from bowling in both international and domestic games.

Narine was suspended in November 2015 and since then; the spinner has not been seen in action. That said, fortunately for the Knight Riders, Narine has been cleared to bowl again in the IPL and will once again make his presence felt.

While Narine’s participation in the IPL is certain, it remains to be seen whether he will feature in the first match against the Delhi Daredevils on Sunday. The 27-year-old returned back to his Island following the death of his father.

As reported by cricinfo, KKR coach Jacques Kallis said,

"Unfortunately, he lost a family member, his dad passed away, so he has gone back," Kallis said, before news of Narine's action being cleared. "We are certainly not putting any pressure on him to get back yet."
