Kings XI Punjab ask BCCI to shift their IPL home matches away from Dharamsala

AFTER THE MARQUEE India-Pakistan match was shifted from Dharamsala to Kolkata, it has now been learnt that the picturesque ground has also lost out on hosting any of the IPL games this season.

The Kings XI Punjab, which had made Dharamsala one of its home venues asked the BCCI to shift its matches from Dharamsala to Nagpur, to which the Indian cricket board readily agreed.

Due to the heavy security charges and entertainment tax charged by the Himachal Pradesh government, the Kings XI Punjab, were not too happy with playing its home games at the venue, and mentioned the same in a written request to the BCCI to change in the venue.

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) spokesperson Sanjay Sharma blamed the Congress-led state government for Dharamsala losing out on IPL matches this year.

As reported by TOI he said,

"Franchisees do not want to take the risk of hosting matches here (Dharamsala) due to the politics played by the Congress-led state government. They are trying to harm the HPCA's image directly or indirectly because the association president is Anurag Thakur who belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party."

The venue didn't host any IPL game last season, too.
