Another injury blow for Kashyap, this time at German GPG

RANKED 17TH, INDIAN MEN'S SINGLES SHUTTLER Parupalli Kashyap has yet again marred by an injury during the pre-quarter match at the German Open Grand Prix Gold. He suffered a knee injury which forced him to pull out from the match mid-way against eighth seed Son Wan Ho of Korea.

The Indian shuttler lost the first game 12-21 and was fighting hard to get back in the second. Trailing 11-16, he couldn't take the pain anymore and succumbed to the injury.This enabled the Korean shuttler to proceed further in the tournament.

This comes as a blow to Kashyap who is racing against time to seal an Olympic berth. The German GPG marked his comeback from an injury which he took up while playing in the India GPG. Since then he was on rest and missed out on South Asian Games (SAG) and Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC).

The shuttler is being attended by physiotherapist Dr. Johnson Solomon but the status of his injury is yet to be clarified.

"He is fine now but we are waiting for some tests. Only after that, we can say how much time would be needed for him to recover," Johnson said.
