Kashyap makes a comeback at German GPG seeded 11th, Srikanth seeded sixth

SHUTTLERS ARE NOW SET TO participate in the German Open Grand Prix Gold but most of them will miss the event as they are still recovering from injury and others want to be fit for major tournaments like the All England Championship which starts two days after this event.

Men's singles shuttler and top ranked Indian, Kidambi Srikanth is seeded sixth while Parupalli Kashyap is seeded 11th. World no. 17, Kashyap was last seen at the India GPG where he suffered a muscle sprain. In Germany, he will be hoping to make a good comeback and win back hearts of his fans. He would also be keen on gaining enough points that will help him improve his ranking. In the first round, he will face Artem Pochtarev of Ukraine for the first time.

On the other hand, World no. 10 Srikanth has been in good touch. He remained unbeaten in the Asia Team Championship and before that clinched the India GPG and also the Gold medal at SAG. He will be up against Japanese Takuma Ueda; the head-to-head count between the two is in favour of the Indian 3-1.

The other shuttler in this category is young lad Sameer Verma who plays Dmytro Zavadsky of Ukraine in their first ever encounter with each other.

The lone shuttler in the women's singles category is PV Sindhu and she is seeded seventh. Her first round opponent is American Rong Schafer.

In the men's doubles category, unseeded pair of Manu Attri and Buss Sumeeth Reddy take on Marcus Ellis/ Chris Langridge of England. The head-to-head count favours the Indian pair 2-0.

There are no Indians participating in the women's doubles and mixed doubles contest.
