Sindhu, Srikanth and Ajay in quarters of the Malaysian Masters GPG
SHUTTLERS PV SINDHU, Kidambi Srikanth and Ajay Jayaram have reached the quarter-final of the Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold in Penang.
Sindhu booked her place in the quarters by winning a close encounter 21-13, 13-21, 21-14 over Japanese Kaori Imabeppu.
Meanwhile, Srikanth had a rather easy outing against 16th seed Thai Boonsak Ponsana defeating him in straight games, 21-17, 21-10. Ajay Jayaram was put to the test by the Malaysian Zulfadli Zulkiffli but the Indian won a nerve-wracking match 11-21, 21-8, 22-20.

In the women's doubles, Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa were ousted by Japanese duo Shizuka Matsuo/ Mami Naito in straight games 14-21, 17-21.
Third seed Sindhu will play Lindaweni Fanetri of Indonesia in the quarters, the head-to-head count is in favour of the Indian, who holds the edge by 7-2.
Srikanth will be up against Huang Yuxiang and they will play their first match against each other. On the other hand, Ajay will either face Lee Chong Wei (Malaysia) and the former World no. 1 holds the edge by 7-0 in the head-to-head count.
