Roberto Carlos to return to ISL? Report claims Mumbai City are in "advanced talks"

ALTHOUGH ROBERTO CARLOS asserted towards the end of ISL 2015 that he was not going to return next year, there are rumours that he may do just that, as the manager of a different franchise.

The legendary Brazilian former striker was the marquee player-manager for Delhi Dynamos last year. And recently, he claimed to be close to signing up for a coaching position at Real Madrid. But according to a report in Times of India, his destination be something far less exciting: Mumbai City.

The article claims that the D Y Patil Stadium-based ISL franchise is in "advanced talks" with Roberto Carlos to secure his services in the 3rd edition of ISL. The move comes after it was decided that ISL teams can't do things like using a player as the head coach of the team.

Mumbai City haven't done well in the ISL so far. After a forgettable performance in the inaugural ISL, they were looking well in ISL 2015 but things fell apart due to lack of proper leadership in the team under player-coach Nicolas Anelka.

Roberto Carlos, meanwhile, was quick to realise that being a player-coach wasn't going to cut it at ISL and concentrating on his managerial role, taking Delhi Dynamos to the semi-finals where they eventually lost to Zico's FC Goa.
