SMASHING STARS: Akshay, Abhishek, Riteish to face-off on court in PBL finale
THE PREMIER BADMINTON LEAGUE brand ambassador Akshay Kumar, and also Mumbai Rockets co-owner, will be seen clashing in a game of badminton against Bollywood actors Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh at the Closing Ceremony, which be held on 17th January 2015 at DDA Badminton and Squash Stadium, Siri Fort in Delhi.
Abhishek Bachchan is also known as a sports entrepreneur and owns the franchisee of the Jaipur Pink Panthers in Pro Kabaddi League and is also the co-owner of Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League.
In the closing ceremony, ‘Khiladi’ Akshay Kumar, Jr. Bachchan and Riteish will play a 15 points game against each other in front of the sport-loving crowd. The 15-point game between the Bollywood stars will give the city an unforgettable chance to see their superstars playing a popular sport in front of them.
Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh are sports enthusiasts and have keen interest in badminton. Post their own game, they will then enjoy the finals of the Premier Badminton League 2016.
Speaking on the star-studded match, Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta, President BAI & Chairman PBL said,
“I welcome Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh to the badminton-loving city of Delhi and the Finals of the Premier Badminton League. I am sure they will have a great time playing badminton against each other and this will be a chance for them to relive those childhood moments when on many occasion they would have played this exhilarating game”.
PBL Brand Ambassador Akshay Kumar stated:

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan commented on the match:
“I have played Badminton many times in my life but never in front of star players like Saina Nehwal, Cai Yun and PV Sindhu. Playing Badminton against Akshay and Riteish, with whom I worked as a co-star, will be a different experience. I hope to have a good game and give good competition to Khiladi Kumar and Riteish.”
Actor Riteish Deshmukh added:
“I am expecting a grand show on the court as we will be playing in the sidelines of the PBL, which has top-rated players of the world. Playing against my co-stars in front of the crowd will sure be an amazing experience for me. I am looking for an exciting match on this Sunday.”
The Premier Badminton League commenced from 2nd January 2016, where six franchisees -- Delhi Acers, Hyderabad Hunters, Bengaluru Top Guns, Chennai Smashers, Mumbai Rockets and Awadhe Warriors -- competed for the top honour. The Final match will be held on Sunday, 17th January 2016 at 6:30 pm in Delhi.
