We are a team that can halt any storm; Chennai is ready, says confident Mehraj

CHENNAIYIN FC defender Mehrajuddin Wadoo has expressed confidence that his team's defence is strong enough to prevail against the fearsome attack of FC Goa in the ISL final.

Speaking to Bengali daily Ei Samay at the team hotel, the 31 year old said,

"We are the ones who conceded the least amount of goals. Just 15, out of which 5 came from penalties. That tells you how compact our defence is."

Mehraj, who used to be a stopper at the start of his professional career, was used as a right back by David Trezeguet at Pune City last year. Since then he has remodelled himself into the new playing position, and playing at Chennaiyin FC, he said, has helped him get better,

"It's the defensive quality that Marco [Materazzi] has... it has made me a lot sharper."

As the day of the ISL 2015 final has finally arrived, Mehraj does not seem to be in much of a worry over FC Goa's attacking prowess. He said,

"We are a team that can halt any storm. Chennai is ready. You'll see the rest on the pitch."
