Jeje's record-setting 10 ISL goals: most came at home, the others at "home away from home"

WITH THE ISL 2015 about to come to a close, the I-League clubs have begun  their efforts behind the scenes to trap quality players to boost their squads. One of the big names that will be fought over in the coming weeks is that of Jeje Lalpekhlua.

Jeje, a 24 year old striker who rose up the ladder from the Pune FC academy and got his league debut back in 2008, has hardly ever been the most talked-about player in any team he has been; but he has been a quiet, dependable soldier who has often delivered when called upon.

After representing 5 years in Pune FC, he has gone on to play for Dempo and Mohun Bagan in the I-League. He also has 28 national team caps.

But one of the things that has clubs like East Bengal as well as his former club Mohun Bagan excited about signing him is the fact that he has just become the first Indian player to score 10 goals in the ISL. After scoring 4 goals in 13 appearances in ISL 2014, Jeje has had a good season in ISL 2015 where he has notched up 6 goals in te 9 matches he has played so far. Chennaiyin FC coach Marco Materazzi has often chosen to play him ahead of Balwant Singh and the positive striker with a calm head for the finish has not disappointed.

So without further ado let's take a look at Jeje's journey in the ISL so far, anchored around each of his 10 goals. Interestingly, 8 of his goals have come in the Marina Arena, which is the home ground of his team Chennaiyin FC. The 2 goals he scored outside it came in Pune's Balewadi Stadium, which was his home ground from 2008 to 2013 when he played for Pune FC.

Jeje, it seems, has been a prolific "home scorer" in the ISL so far.
