Amit Mishra likely to appear before police as complainant denies reports of withdrawing case

THE AMIT MISHRA assault case seems to have taken a new twist, with the latest reports suggesting that the complainant has refused to withdraw the case against the Indian cricketer.

The woman, who claimed to be a 'friend' of Mishra, had lodged a complaint against the leg spinner, which media said she is willing to withdraw. But, reacting to the media reports, she has has denied withdrawing the complaint. According to a report published in The Hindu, the woman now wants Mishra to appear at the Bengaluru Police station.

Just a few days ago, it was reported that the 34-year old film producer was planning to withdraw the case. But now, it seems that she's now waiting to confront the cricketer.

“I won’t withdraw the complaint against Amit (Mishra). I am hurt physically, mentally and emotionally by the cricketer,” she said.

The woman also said that Mishra was in touch with her till Wednesday, but is now unreachable.

“He knew I was going to the police and kept saying he will come to Bengaluru and sort out the matter. I want Amit to come in front of the police and talk to me,” she further added.

Mishra is likely to appear before the police after the end of the India-South Africa ODI series. The cricketer was booked under the Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 328 (causing hurt with intent to commit an offence).
