Amit Mishra charged for allegedly assaulting woman in Bengaluru, FIR lodged: report

INDIAN LEG SPINNER Amit Mishra has been booked by Bengaluru Police for allegedly assaulting a woman in Bengaluru.

The incident reportedly took place on September 25, when the complainant visited the cricketer in his hotel room, a report in Times Now said.

"The incident took place about a month ago and we have been investigating the case since then. We have already collected CCTV footage and have also spoken to employees at the hotel. We have issued a notice to Amit Mishra asking him to appear before us so we can take his statements as well," Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central, Sandeep Patil was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

It is reported that the two had a heated argument, which led to the cricketer allegedly assaulting the woman. An FIR was registered with the Bengaluru Police on September 27. On a complaint from the woman, Mishra had been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 328 (causing hurt with intent to commit an offence).

The Bengaluru Police has summoned the Indian bowler, directing him to appear within the next seven days.

Mishra is part of the Indian Test squad for the first two Tests against South Africa. He was in Bengaluru last month for India's pre-tour training camp.
