Chinese Taipei GPG: Sourabh Verma to lead the Indian contingent

WHILE STALWARTS take rest after two weeks of continuous action, the young shuttlers will take the stage at the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix Gold.

Sourabh Verma is the highest seeded shuttler among the Indians. The fourth seeded will look to get his hands on his first GPG after winning Grand Prix at the same place last year in October.

All eyes will be on Sourabh whether he can continue the amazing run of his senior compatriots are doing in the past few weeks. He begins his campaign against Lee Zii Jia and the head-to-head count favours the Indian, 1-0.

If all goes well for Sourabh, in the semi-finals he is likely to face the top seed Chou Tien Chen but before that he will might also play compatriots Rahul Yadav and 16th seed Siril Verma.

Rahul will play En Chia Chang in the opening round while Siril plays Wei Chi Liu. The others in this category are 15th seed Abhishek Yelegar, 14th seed Harsheel Dani, Kartikey Kumar, Siddharat Thakur, Hemanth Gowda and Harshit Aggarwal.

Abhishek plays Yu Ming ; Harsheel will face Lee Chak Wai; Kartikey faces Shih Kuei Chun; Siddharth plays 13th seed Suppanyu; Hemanth plays 10th seed Hsueh Yi; Harshit's opponent is yet to be decided.

In the women's singles there are three shuttlers. Sai Uttejitha plays Na Yeong Kim in the opening round; Sri Krishna Priya will be against 4th seed Chiang Mei Hui and Tanvi Lad plays Hung Yi-Ting.

Nikhar Garg/Ankur Rai will play Ko-Chi Chang/Liao Kuan Hao in the opening round of the men's doubles category.

No Indian participation in the women's and mixed doubles.
