Final decision on my career will be taken by August: AB de Villiers

SOUTH AFRICAN CRICKET superstar AB de Villiers has come out and openly spoken about his future in the game. After losing the T20 series to England at Cardiff yesterday, the Proteas skipper informed that he along with Cricket South Africa (CSA) were going to "make a final decision about what happens for the next few years."

Last year, ABD has taken an extended break citing family reasons and to keep himself fit for the 2019 World Cup. Since his return, he has not been able to deliver the goods consistently. In the 10th edition of the IPL too, he was only a shadow of himself. Now, after South Africa's premature exit in the recently concluded Champions Trophy, it seems the 32-year-old has reached a saturation point.

As reported by espncricinfo, ABD said,

"We will see what works for both parties. We are not going to pick and choose games, but we are going to make a final decision about what happens for the next few years."

South Africa have never won the 50 over World Cup, and ABD has been very vocal about how he is desperate to win the elusive Cup for his nation.

Once again, the maestro explained to espncricinfo,

"It's my main dream to win a World Cup for South Africa, or to be part of it in one way or another… I don't even think it's in my hands, what is going to happen. I will wait until the final decision on the coach and things like that are made. Then I can also have a chat to CSA, to see where I am going to fit in."
