SA T20 Global League: Team owners unveiled; SRK gets the Cape Town franchise

JUST AS THE dust settles on the 2017 Champions Trophy, Cricket South Africa have seized the moment and opportunity in naming the owners of the eight franchises along with the marquee names who will make an appearance in the inaugural edition of SA T20 Global League.

The event was conducted at a swanky hotel in London where several leading cricketers, including businessmen and cricket administrators around the world were present.

Ever since T20 cricket has been introduced to the world, many leading cricket playing nations have enjoyed their share of the pie. From Big Bash to IPL, we have seen a terrific rise in the development of the shortest version of the game.

Unfortunately, for South Africa, the Ram Slam T20 didn't draw much excitement and now with the Global T20 League, CSA too is trying to have a piece of this cake.

The city of Durban will see their local marquee in Hashim Amla. The franchise will be owned by Fawad Rana.
The city of Benoni will have Quinton De Kock as their marquee name and the franchise will be owned by Javed Afridi.
The city of Johannesburg will see Kagiso Rabada as their marquee player and the franchise will be owned by GMR Sports.
The city of Port Elizabeth will have Imran Tahir as their marquee name and will be owned by Ajay Sethi.
The city of Bloemfontein will have David Miller as their marquee name and will be owned by Sushil Kumar.
The city of Cape Town will have JP Duminy as their marquee name and will be owned by Shah Rukh Khan.
The city of Stellenbosch will have Faf du Plessis as their marquee name and will be owned by Brimstone investment.
The city of Pretoria will have AB de Villiers as their marquee name and will be owned by Osman Osman.

The player draft is scheduled for 19th August.
