It's Official: Gianluca Zambrotta parts ways with ISL team Delhi Dynamos

AT A JUNCTURE WHERE INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE is in the news in India, Delhi Dynamos coach Zambrotta is also in the news. But Zambrotta's making news in China. THe country where he is rumoured to be heading for a new coaching assignment. The Italian Zambrotta was appointed coach of ISL franchise Delhi Dynamos for the last season.

Delhi made it to the last four but did not go through to the final. The rumour states that Zambrotta has just moved to China as an assistant coach in the Chinese Super League team Jiangsu Suning. Fabio Capello has been appointed the new coach for Jiangsu Suning and Zambrotta is expected to join Capello.

The former World Cup winner took Delhi Dynamos to 21 points in a third place finish in the group stages. In the semi-final the Dynamos lost in penalties to Kerala Blasters.

UPDATE: It is official that Zambrotta is no longer the coach of Delhi Dynamos.

Rohan Sharma, Director of Delhi Dynamos FC said,

“It was great having Zambrotta as the coach of Delhi Dynamos. He is a great manager who represented the club with class and dignity. We wish him best of luck in his future endeavours”

Zambrotta on his stint with the Delhi Dynamos,

“It’s been an honour & a privilege for me to manage Delhi Dynamos FC and work in the Indian Super League. While my new assignment takes me away from Delhi, I have nothing but fond memories of the Club and its Fans.”
