Gurpreet to lead the team vs Nepal; Vineeth, Udanta & Chhetri to miss

GOALKEEPER GURPREET SINGH SANDHU will be seen once again leading the national team in the absence of Sunil Chhetri who is being rested for the match against Nepal on 6th June at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai.

At the pre-match press conference held today, 5th June, Gurpreet had a message for the young and upcoming players,

"Young players should try and play abroad with the right mentality to improve oneself."

He further added,

"India will be able to unearth a lot of talent and opportunities if we utilise the chance of hosting FIFA U-17 World Cup well."

Coach Stephen Constantine confirmed the news of CK Vineeth and Udanta Singh missing out on tomorrow's match due to injury.

The gaffer also said how cautious they are on playing Nepal tomorrow.

"We expect a tough game, they fight till they can't fight any more."

He also said that how no one believed him when he said India could be in the top 100.

"Two and a half years back when I said we would be in the top 100, people laughed. But not anymore."

The fans in Mumbai are gearing up for an exciting encounter and therefore the team will see to it that they don't disappoint.
