#TFGinterview: Alberto El Patron talks who he wants to see in Impact, working with Lashley and more

BACK IN MARCH, Alberto El Patron stepped into Impact Wrestling for the first time.

Alberto talked about his stint in Impact Wrestling

Almost three months later, The Mexican seems to have settled down well in the promotion, where he is currently the GFW Global Champion.

Alberto El Patron: I’m in a place where I can finally feel at home. Everyone has been fantastic to me from the wrestlers, the crew, the office; everyone has been great to me.

Alberto’s first night in Impact saw him draw battle lines with Bobby Lashley. As Bobby was the reigning Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion, it was probably bound to happen.

Alberto El Patron: We had an amazing match the first night. He’s a great performer, I’m a great performer and we are two hybrid wrestlers. We are two guys with a lot of passion for the business and that’s why we gave the fans an amazing match.

Apart from Bobby, there is a string of exciting opponents for Alberto in Impact Wrestling. And personally, he would love to see some additions to this roster as well.

Alberto El Patron: I would love to have someone like Pentagon Jr., I would love to have my brother in the company. He has been doing some good work over the recent years.

The wrestlers from Impact Wrestling are the latest additions to the long list of talent that Alberto has wrestled over the years. In a career which saw him travel all around the world, he has come across some notable names from the business.

Alberto El Patron: I have a lot of respect for all the wrestlers from around the world. It doesn’t matter who they are and what they are. If they are in the ring with me, it’s because of a reason. There’s a reason for that. If you want some of my favorite ones, I can tell you some names like Rey Mysterio, John Cena, people like Pentagon. There are great competitors all around the world and I had the opportunity to share the ring with them. And now, here in impact, I’ve had the opportunity to share the ring with Bobby Lashley. I liked the match with Eli Drake. And I think Alberto brings the best of his opponents.

This illustrious career of Alberto, however, is currently in its twilight. During a recent interview, he mentioned that he might retire soon and when asked about the same, he had the following to say:

Alberto El Patron: To be honest, I don’t know where I’m going to be in the next two years. I cannot tell you a precise moment when it is going to happen but it is going to happen.

And one of the reasons for this could be his hectic schedule. Along with being a professional wrestler, he also works as the president of Hispanic Mixed Martial Arts promotion, Combate Americas. But despite the headaches, Alberto seems to be enjoying what he is doing

Alberto El Patron: The traveling part is hard. Because I have to go from one place to another every time. But I enjoy my work as a wrestler and I enjoy my work as the president of the MMA promotion. When I’m there, I would be like ‘I would rather kick people, do cross bodies and all’ and when I’m wrestling, I would be like ‘I’d rather be in the office hiring fighters or finding new places to go’. It’s two different businesses and I’m having a lot of fun doing both.

Alberto might have his eyes set on retirement a few years later, but for the time being, he is poised to give the Impact Wrestling fans some memorable moments.

Bonus: Alberto Del Rio on the Conor McGregor – Floyd Mayweather Fight

That’s going to happen eventually because there is a lot of money involved. They are just making more noise so they get more sponsors and so that they can get more people interested in the fight. It’s just a matter of time.
