FOLLOWING THE LAUNCH of Under-17 World Cup ticket sale in New Delhi, Spanish great Carles Puyol flew to Mumbai for the promotion of the tournament.
The former Barcelona defender visited the Facebook office in Mumbai to share ‘live’ video with his fans. Alongside popular host Gaurav Kapur and tournament director of the Local Organising Committee for the FIFA U-17 WC India 2017, Javier Ceppi, Puyol conducted an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session.
When asked what India needs to do, to emulate Spain’s success in football, Puyol stated that it is important to groom youth and focus on grass-root football. The 39-year-old believes that India can make developments in the sport if the kids start enjoying the game and also receive professional coaching.
