This week in IMPACT History: A look back at Sacrifice 2008

If you know anything about the wrestling industry, you know that Pay-Per-View events hold some of the most magical moments in all of professional wrestling history. If we think back to 2008, we remember Sacrifice 2008 on May 11. An event that had everyone talking for months to come.

We witnessed Samoa Joe defend and retain the World Championship against Scott Steiner and Kaz. We also watched one of the most memorable Knockout matches in history as Gail Kim defeated several Knockouts to become the number one contender to later face Knockouts Champion at the time, Awesome Kong.

Furthermore, this Knockouts match was a Knockouts Makeover Battle Royal-Ladder match. Once the match got down to two competitors, a ladder match began and the loser would get her head shaved. We intently watched as Roxxi Laveaux was the unlucky competitor at the end of the night, getting her head shaved.

Also on May 11, 2008, at Sacrifice, we watched as Hernandez and Homicide of LAX became World Tag Team Champions for the very first time winning the vacant Title belt. LAX held the Tag Team Championships for a total of 91 days before losing them to Beer Money Inc. on August 10 at HardCore Justice.

Currently in IMPACT Wrestling, LAX reigns as the World Tag Team Champions. Two weeks ago on IMPACT we watched as they brutally defeated Decay. This week we can expect to see them “pay their respects” to Decay in the IMPACT Zone. But what does that mean? Tune in this week to find out.

WATCH IMPACT WRESTLING ON Sony SIX HD & SD on 13 May 2017 at 12 Noon and TNA XPLOSION ON Sony SIX HD & SD on 14 May, 2017 at 12 Noon.
