Sports minister Vijay Goel says he will ensure Aizawl FC plays in top tier

I-LEAGUE champions Aizawl FC have been the talk of the town not only for their fairy-tale end to the season but also for their fight against AIFF to make them part of the top division league next season.

Outrage from the club and fans have been going on and many in power have been talking about this issue.

The recent comments come from Sports Minister Vijay Goel who was in Kolkata to monitor the preparations of FIFA U-17 World Cup and was asked about Aizawl.

He replied saying,

"I have been hearing about it from the media, but haven't yet been approached directly [by Aizawl FC yet]. I will talk to AIFF and will try to ensure Aizawl gets its place in the top-tier," as told to Sportstar.

Earlier All India Football Federation President Praful Patel responding to Aizawl's protest unto death had said,

"Threats don't work in a sporting organisation, nothing decided yet."

Now all eyes will be on a meeting that will be held between AIFF and the Sports Minister and the fans will be curious to know the outcome.
