Our focus is on what we can achieve rather than thinking about the opposition: Parthiv

AHEAD OF MUMBAI INDIANS’ ninth game of IPL 10, against Gujarat Lions at Rajkot, wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel stated that the focus of the team is to execute their plans and give their best.

Parthiv said that the team isn’t bothered by the potential of the opponents and is rather focused on claiming the top spot in the league. As reported by IndianExpress, the 32-year-old said,

“It’s important for us to focus on what we can achieve. We do not think about what opposition is doing, we have our plans and we try to execute those properly. Our focus is on what we can achieve rather than what is coming at us.”

The Gujarat-lad showed his support for Lasith Malinga, who has picked just four wickets in four games and has proved expensive.

“He is coming out of injury. He has been proven match winner in both levels — International as well as IPL — and we are not worried about his form. I am sure Malinga will come back strongly. We have good options; our bowling attack is not something which is dependent on any bowler or any wicket. We have variety in bowling,”

Speaking about playing a game after a four-day break, he said,

“We needed that break. We played few back to back games and such a break is always welcome in long tournaments like IPL.”
