We haven't shown the right intent in this IPL: Kohli

FOLLOWING A HEAVY DEFEAT against Gujarat Lions, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli pointed out that it is the lack of intent that is stopping his side from putting up a good performance.

The visitors chased RCB’s 135-run total in just 13.5 overs courtesy of Aaron Finch’s 72 off 34. A few days earlier, RCB had suffered an embarrassing loss at the hands of KKR as the side was dismissed for a total of just 49-runs. Speaking about the loss, Kohli said that all the players in the squad need to stand up and take responsibility in the forthcoming games.

“Tonight was not clinical. We need to get better with our performances. You got to come out and play with intent. We tried to do it with the bat. The only way to come out of it is to play positive cricket. We are putting too much pressure on the team. Individuals need to stand up and take responsibility.”

Having played nine games, the Bangalore franchise has won just two games and has lost six. Also, their game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 25 was abandoned due to rain.

Meanwhile, Kohli showered praise on Aaron Finch for his brilliant knock, that included six sixes and four fours.

“The ball was coming on decently well. Both the innings under lights the ball behaves the same. Credit to Finch he played a fantastic knock. In a small chase it is important if one guys takes the momentum.”
