#TFGtake: Why Mohammed Farhad should Be the next opponent of Gurdarshan Mangat

BRAVE 5 WITNESSED the conclusion of a fierce rivalry between Abdul Muneer and Gurdarshan Mangat. While these two might cross paths in the future once again, for the time being, the score is settled.

Mangat came out on top at Brave 5

The feud between Muneer and Mangat sprouted from the fan poll that we had rolled out to determine who the best Indian fighter of 2016 was. Muneer edged out Mangat to claim the title, and this kick started a debate which heated up quickly.

The question was simple: Who was the best Indian fighter out there.

After an iconic build-up which saw venom being spewed by both parties, Muneer and Mangat showcased an intense war inside the cage at Brave 5. When the smoke settled in, it was Mangat that stood tall with a unanimous decision win.

The important Question

The result gave us an answer to the question that we had earlier: Mangat is the best Indian fighter out there.

Defeating Muneer has certainly catapulted Mangat to the top. But in MMA, it’s not about reaching the top, it’s about staying there. This is why another question poked up after Brave 5: What is next for Gurdarshan Mangat?

Farhad enjoyed a 39 second KO win

It might be a bit puzzling, but this is where Brave Combat Federation could play the ‘Best Indian Fighter’ card once again.

Apart from Mangat, Hardeep Rai and Mohammed Farhad are the Indian fighters that secured a win at Brave 5.  A fight between Hardeep and Mangat is off the cards due to the huge weight difference that exists. A fight between Mangat and Farhad, however, has success written all over it.

The similar record

Farhad has been by far the most impressive Indian-based fighter in Brave. He made his debut in Brave 1 with a TKO win over Badr-Eddine and knocked out Irfan Khan in just 39 seconds at Brave 5. This win at Brave 5 helped Farhad improve his record to 9-2.

He is currently on a six-fight winning streak and co-incidentally, Mangat has not tasted defeat in his last six fights as well.

And the best part would perhaps be the weight category. To face Muneer, Mangat had to move up to featherweight when most of his fights happened in Bantamweight. In case you did not guess it already, Farhad fights at Bantamweight, once again making this ‘the’ fight to make.

Continuing the story and the Muneer connection

Similar record, same weight class, and momentum are factors that might urge BCF to make this fight happen. But for the fans, it would be about continuing the story that Muneer and Mangat started.

Muneer and Mangat started a revolution

Farhad, like Muneer, is a fighter based in India and is even the training partner of Muneer. Mangat, meanwhile, is based in Canada and still represents India. This was the core conflict between Muneer and Mangat.

All these reasons mentioned make Farhad the best choice to face Mangat next.

Earlier, in the build up to Brave 5, Mangat had mentioned that he is ready to go through all the fighters out there to prove that he is the best Indian MMA fighter. He successfully dethroned Muneer and it’s time for him to take up the next challenge and back his words.

Muneer and Mangat started a revolution. Farhad and Mangat could continue this revolution and make history once again.

Who will come out on top if Mangat and Farhad square off? Let us know in the comments section.
