BCCI set to miss deadline for announcing ICC Champions Trophy squad

THE BCCI is all set to miss the deadline for announcing the Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

As per the International Cricket Council (ICC), the last date for submission of 15-member squads is April 25. While most of the participating teams have already announced their squads, the BCCI look to defy ICC’s order.

Sources have reported that the Indian cricket board will only announce the squad after ICC Board meeting takes place on April 27.  It is understood that the agenda for the meeting will be the much talked-about revenue and governance reforms. As reported by HT, BCCI has been keeping tabs on ICC.

Lately, the BCCI has also pressured the ICC by threatening to pull out of the Champions Trophy as per Members Participation Agreement (MPA) in case their demands are not met. The tournament is slated to kick off on June 1, this year.
