WATCH: McCullum’s stunning effort to dismiss Gayle gets denied by his hat

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE batsman Chris Gayle scored a thunderous 77 in the first innings against Gujarat Lions on April 19. 

The Jamaican swashbuckler thrashed Gujarat’s bowling attack after slightly struggling early on in game. The 37-year-old got going as he crossed the 10,000 T20 runs mark. However, after reaching 38-runs, it appeared that Brendon McCullum had pulled an outstanding catch to put an end to the Gayle-storm. The former Kiwi skipper dived in the air to complete a sensational catch near the rope. 

Unfortunately, the brim of McCullum’s hat had touched the boundary line as he had gone to ground and thus, the ball had technically cleared the ropes. Gayle, who had almost made it to the dug-out got a lifeline and showed that he is a sport as he shook hands with McCullum.
