Last year, we had to win 4 out of 4 and we qualified. It’s not going to happen every time, says Kohli after RCB’s fourth defeat

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE skipper Virat Kohli rued his team’s performance in the recent games and laid emphasis on their need to take up more responsibility.

After losing the fifth game of IPL 10, against RPS by 27-runs, Kohli asked his teammates to show more intent and also urged the fans to keep supporting the team. RCB, who failed to chase 162 on a two-faced track, are now placed at the bottom of the table with two points. As reported by OneIndia, the 28-year-old said,

"They (fans) have always backed us throughout. Last year was a situation where we needed their support and they were out here (at M Chinnaswamy Stadium) in huge numbers to do that. Once we get things turning around for us, hopefully in the next couple of games, then we can come back home and dominate. We as players need to take more responsibility so that we can give fans something to cheer about."

Kohli also indirectly reminded his teammates that they cannot play with the fear of losing.

“Guys coming in need to step up. We can’t play with fear of failure. We can’t bowl thinking what if we leak runs, what if it is a massive mistake in sport, especially in cricket. We have to be more expressive. Last year, we had to win four out of four and we qualified. It’s not going to happen every time, so we need to pull our socks up. If you play with intent and get out or get hit, it’s fine. You can’t be switched off and let the game drift away. As professional cricketer, were franchise cricket you to do well.”

The Bangalore franchise will play their next home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 25.
