Marin smashes Sindhu out of Singapore SS; Praneeth & Srikanth enter SF

CAROLINA MARIN was the better shuttler on court today at the Singapore Super Series quarter-final clash against PV Sindhu. The Spaniard took the match in just 34 minutes, not giving Sindhu any room for a comeback, 21-11, 21-15 the final score.

It is always a treat when these two shuttlers take the court against each other, especially since the Rio Olympics final in 2016. Both, since then have been getting the best out of each other but today it was Marin's day.

She controlled the match from the start. Though Sindhu tried to fight back in the second game, it was too late as the damage was already done.

Meanwhile, men's singles shuttler Sai Praneeth continued his winning run as he defeated Tanongsak in an exciting three game match. The Indian displayed a great performance against the Thai, 15-21, 21-14, 21-19. He will next face Lee Dong Keun. So did Kidambi Srikanth, he defeated 5th seed Shi Yuqi in straight games 21-14, 21-16. He next faces Anthony Ginting in the semis.

On the other hand, mixed doubles duo of Ashwini Ponnappa/Sumeeth Reddy ended their campaign against 3rd seeds Lu Kai/Huang Yaqiong 11-21, 8-21.
