Need to start trusting ‘bowling leader’ Narine with the willow as well: Gambhir

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS skipper Gautam Gambhir showered praise on Sunil Narine for leading the bowling attack in different pitches with challenging conditions. 

After witnessing a quick-fire innings from the Caribbean cricketer, Gambhir reckoned that he will have to start trusting Narine with the willow too. As reported by IANS, he said,

"I need to start trusting Narine with the bat now. He was the leader of the attack irrespective of the conditions." 

When asked about the strategy for sending Narine at the top of the order, Gambhir said,

"He can hit a big ball, we have a long batting line-up, and so we sent Sunil in at the top. He won't face many balls at No. 9 anyway."

Narine divulged that he enjoyed opening the innings and further added, 

"It came off today. Some days it might not. Yes, I enjoyed batting. I opened there at the BBL (Big Bash League where he plays for Melbourne Renegades) and today I said 'anything for the team'."
