Mohun Bagan fined Rs. 75,000 for being unable to control crowd misconduct

THE MARINERS SURE HAVE TAKEN THE PRIZE in the last Kolkata derby but along with it had to bear the ire of the AIFF when they failed to control the crowd misbehaviour.

Mohun Bagan beat East Bengal 2-1 in a game which saw a straight red card flashed to Willis Plaza and allowed Mohun Bagan to reduce the points gap with Aizawl the league leaders. This match, as expected had tempers flaring off the pitch, on the stands as well. During the game there things hurled on the playing field and after the game was over some fans stormed the pitch.

The match report by the match commissioner, J Ravishankar's report, had these incidents mentioned. The disciplinary committee imposed a fine on the club on two counts: Rs 50,000 for not preventing fans from entering the field after the match and Rs 25,000 for the unruly crowd which hurled bottles and missiles on to the ground during the match as reported by the Times of India.

In one of the most anticipated derby of Indian football always ends up in some untoward incident. After the last Kolkata derby, there were some accidental deaths that happened to fans while travelling towards or from the derby game.
