Dropping Hardik's catch cost us the game: Gambhir

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS skipper Gautam Gambhir rued his side’s missed opportunities and lauded the effort of the Mumbai Indians batsmen in the death overs of the match.

The Mumbai franchise beat the visitors by four wickets as they chased 179 in 19.5 overs at Wankhede. As reported by AINS, the southpaw showered praise on Pandya and Rana for playing an ‘unbelievable innings’.

"We put a good score on the board in the last three overs. But Hardik and Rana played unbelievable innings."

Gambhir also regretted the lifeline given to Pandya in the fourth delivery of the ultimate over, when Rishi Dhawan could not get near a top edge after slipping on the dewy turf.

"If we'd taken Hardik's catch, anything might have happened."

The 35-year-old said that his side could not hold their nerves in the death overs and that the panic affected the result.

"It's just a matter of keeping our nerves calm. We panicked a little in the end with the misfield and the dropped catch."
