Fortunate to get over the line in the opening game, says Smith

RISING PUNE SUPERGIANT captain Steve Smith has conceded that his side was fortunate to get over the line in the final over of the first IPL 10 game against Mumbai Indians, at Pune.

Smith hit two consecutive sixes in the final over to help RPS chased down 185 and win by seven wickets. As reported by PTI, the Aussie batsman said,

"It's a nice place to bat at Pune. It was nice to hit a couple of sixes to win the game. It was one of those wickets where it was hard to find timing as soon as you come in. Fortunate to get over the line in the end.”

Recalling his form in the recently-concluded Test series against India, Smith added,

"Form is form anywhere, I guess, so you got to make the most of it when you're hitting the ball well."

The 27-year-old also lavished praise on leggie Imran Tahir, who picked three wickets to restrict MI at 184, and added,

"Tahir was magnificent, probably called him on a little bit earlier than I would have liked to. Taking wickets through the middle overs was helpful and probably helped us in the end as well. Probably 180 was a par score on that wicket, pretty nice wicket with even bounce and slightly on the slower side."
