After beating Abahani, Mohun Bagan players & coach flex muscles ahead of Derby

THE WIN AGAINST Abahani has charged up Mohun Bagan ahead of Sunday's Kolkata Derby, the club's coach and players acknowledged.

Head coach Sanjoy Sen, who was keen to portray AFC Cup as a competition completely separate from I-League, was full of praise for his attacking line up,

"We didn't use our full force because the Derby is coming up. The way the boys played when they were a goal down showed a lot of spirit... everyone is scoring which is great. Duffy, Balwant, Jeje everyone has been scoring. Obviously I can't play them all on Sunday so I have something to think about."

Balwant Singh, who persisted through a number of attempts to get a goal last night, said,

"Of course this has given me a lot of confidence. I made a lot of mistakes earlier in the game so I'm happy to make a positive contribution towards our win... the target is always to score in every game and Sunday will be no different."

Jeje Lalpekhlua, who has had a good scoring record over the last few games, was less shy about linking this match to the Derby,

"This has given us a lot of confidence ahead of Sunday's game against East Bengal."

Asked whether Mohun Bagan's performance will make it hard for East Bengal to sleep at night before the Derby, Sanjoy Sen quipped,

"Whether they will sleep or eat or pray you will have to ask them. We will focus on our game and try to do our best on Sunday."
