Ashwini/Sikki & Sanjana/Aarthi ousted from Malaysia SSP after first round defeat

WOMEN'S DOUBLES duo of Ashwini Ponnappa/Sikki Reddy had a tough outing in the opening round of Malaysia Superseries Premier as they lost top seeds from Japan Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi who were on top of their game.

Though the Indian duo fought hard in the first game with their impressive neck-to-neck battle, the Japanese duo were just too good and won the match in straight games, 21-19, 21-15.

In another contest, young pair of Sanjana Santosh/Aarthi Sunil too ended their campaign after losing to third seeds Jung Kyung Eun/Shin Seung Chan. It was an easy outing for the Korean pair, 21-12, 21-8.

The other Indian shuttlers begin their campaign tomorrow.
