INJURY PREMIER LEAGUE: Casualties galore as franchises sweat over fitness of marquee players

NOT A SINGLE ball has been bowled yet in the 10th edition of the IPL, and the tournament organisers and owners are already fretting over injury concerns to some marquee names. With the tournament just a few days away, more than 10 players have already withdrawn from the league completely or have sidelined themselves for the initial games.

While it all started with Quinton De Kock pulling out with a finger injury and Virat Kohli's shoulder issues, today it has been reported that R Ashwin and Murali Vijay too have withdrawn from the IPL.

It is understandable that the ICC Champions Trophy commences on June 1-just 10 days after the IPL finals and the players wouldn't be keen on aggravating their injury. That said, the team owners will surely feel the pinch in the run-up to the tournament.

Although some replacements have already been named, it will be interesting to see how many unsold players at the 2017 auction make the cut. Even more interesting will be to find out if some more marquee names get added to the injury list.

Here's our compilation of the casualty list till now.

Take a look...
