IndiaSS: Saina & Sindhu showdown in QF ; Sameer, only Indian MS shuttler in QF

SAMEER VERMA, the only men's singles shuttler from India to enter the quarter-final of India Superseries after his emphatic win over Hu Yun. The young Indian defeated the Chinese in straight game, 21-17, 21-15, showing off his complete domination. He will either face Marc Zwielber or Anders Antonsen in the quarters.

Meanwhile it wasn't a good day at for Kidambi Srikanth who lost to 3rd seed Viktor Axelsen. A dismal performance from the Indian shuttler put him out of the tournament, losing the match in straight games 21-7, 21-12. With Srikanth's exit, it was all over for the stalwarts for India in the men's singles category.

Same was the case with Sai Praneeth who after putting up great fight to win his first match failed to continue it in the second. He got hammered by Chou Tien Chen, 21-19, 21-6. Though put up competition in the first, in the second Chou was in a hurry to take away the points and eventually won the match.

A great grit and fight shown by Sourabh Verma but he goes down fighting against Angus Ka Long in a thrilling three game match. This should be considered as a crazy turn around encounter as Sourabh who was on the verge of winning the final game, leading 19-18 then once again at 20-20 but Angus took the following two points in his favour to win the match. It was a closely contested match and the luck factor didn't favour the young Indian.

In the women's singles, 6th seed Saina Nehwal had another easy outing against Pornpawee, beating her in straight games 21-14, 21-12. This all leads up to a Saina vs PV Sindhu showdown in the quarters.

Sindhu defeated Saena 21-16 23-21.

Youngster Rituparna Das ended her campaign against top seed Carolina Marin 13-21, 11-21.

Mixed doubles duo of Pranaav Jerry Chopra/Sikki Reddy too ended their campaign as they lost to Dremin/Dimova in straight games. A lot of expectation was riding on the pair and they were confident too. They fought till the end but it wasn't enough losing 18-21, 19-21.
