East Bengal coach Trevor Morgan backs Bengaluru FC to defeat Mohun Bagan

EAST BENGAL HEAD COACH Trevor James Morgan has expressed hope that he will get some help in the I-League title race from a rival the Red and Golds vanquished some time ago.

With Mohun Bagan set to host Bengaluru FC in a crucial match on Saturday, Morgan made it known to reporters which team he will be backing this weekend, saying,

"I hope Bengaluru FC win this one. It will help us out in the title race."

After losing to Chennai City, East Bengal are in a precarious position in the title race. Sitting on 27 points from 14 matches, they must win all their remaining games, and hope league leaders Aizawl FC (30 points from 14 matches) as well as arch rivals Mohun Bagan (23 points from 12 matches) all drop points.

If Bengaluru FC, who beat Mohun Bagan in their AFC Cup Group Stage tie at Kanteerava earlier this year, manage to repeat their feat at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium on Saturday, it will ensure that East Bengal will have a chance to possibly eliminate Mohun Bagan from the title race by winning the Kolkata Derby on 9th April. That will be a huge load off Morgan's shoulder, who is counting on Aizawl FC to drop some points in their remaining games.
