Will take the field only if I am declared 100% fit, says Kohli

INDIA SKIPPER Virat Kohli has stated that he will be a part of the squad playing fourth Test against Australia only if he is declared 100% fit in the fitness test.

To avoid any risk, the Delhi-lad had skipped the batting session in Dharamsala on March 23. As reported by DeccanChronicle, the 28-year-old explained,

"If I am 100 per cent fit is the only way I will take the field. When we put these things in place, first thing I said was I am no different from anyone else. The same process applies to me as it does for all the other members of the team. There is no special treatment for anyone. Obviously, I am 100 per cent fit for the game is the only condition I will take the field. So, the rules apply for everyone and they are same for everyone.”

The flamboyant batsman had hurt his right shoulder while trying to save a boundary during the Ranchi Test. While he did bat in India’s first innings, he did not take the field during Australia’s first innings during that game.

Kohli divulged that he is unaware of the extent of the injury and hence will soon undergo a fitness test. When asked how he felt while training with the team, the maestro said,

"It is very different from competition. That’s one thing. That something that I experienced in Ranchi. When you have reactive moments is when the main magnitude of your injury comes out and those are the things that we need to keep in mind. The physio wants to give it a bit more time until I can test myself and will take a call on it later tonight or tomorrow before the game. So, I think we will have to give it that much time more for me to make that call with the physio as well."
