Former England and ISL player David James to arrive in Kerala in May just as a coach

FORMER ENGLAND NATIONAL TEAM goalkeeper David James will be in Kerala, this time as a coach. He was part of the runner-up team in the innaugural edition of the Indian Super League. 

James played the role of a player and a coach for the Kerala Blasters FC.  He is said to be arriving to be the head of coaching in summer camp being arranged by Sportico Ventures as reported in the Times of India. The player-management agency firm based in Kochi, Kerala is organising a two-month summer camp in Kochi and Malappuram.

"We conduct football camps every year and this time we decided to bring in someone with more experience in coaching. David James is a known figure in Kerala and he has agreed to head the coaching activities of the entire academy," said a source to TOI.

Although David is not expected to be with the summer camp for its entire tenure, he will be setting up the curriculum needed to run the camp. The source further added,

"David will be with us for the first two weeks of May during the summer camp and will return to England after that. He will return to Kerala occasionally to monitor functioning of the academy,"

The academy will be open to children between the age group of 8-14 years.

James was not part of the later editions of the ISL but have gathered a good fan base for hinmself in his first stint in India. Last year, the Kerala Blasters FC finished runners-up for a second time in three years.
